Three Gay Government Ministers About to Be Outed, Claims Márki-Zay

Péter Márki-Zay, the united opposition’s candidate for prime minister, was campaigning in Csurgó, Somogy County, over the weekend when he suggested that certain members in the current Fidesz-led government were about to be outed as homosexual.

The party with the most gay people, and with a blog now about to reveal a scandal of three gay ministers in the government, this is the government running an anti-gay hate campaign.

-said Márki-Zay, campaigning next to Balázs Ander from Jobbik. Ander will face Fidesz candidate László Szászfalvi in the general election.

Márki-Zay’s claim appears at 27:54 in the video below:

It was not immediately clear what the opposition leader was specifically referring to with these words.

The Facebook page with the name “The Devil’s Advocate blog,” which previously exposed scandalous behavior by former Győr Mayor Zsolt Borkai, indicated last year that it would be dishing more dirt on certain government figures in January.

The unknown writer of the Facebook page posted rainbow flag emojis and directed vaguely-worded allegations at Justice Minister Judit Varga in late December. Varga indicated that she would be filing defamation charges against an unknown perpetrator over the statement.

Hungarian authorities have been trying to determine the person or persons behind the Devil’s Lawyer blog since the Borkai scandal blew up in 2019, but the investigation has not yielded results as of yet.

Csaba Czeglédy, from the Democratic Coalition (DK) in Szombathely and the winner of the opposition’s primary election there, became an official suspect behind the leak of Borkai’s sex video in September, but the investigation since then appears to have stalled. [444]

Hard to know what to make of MZP’s comments. He is partly correct i.e. there are closeted gays in Fidesz (and other political parties such as Jobbik etc.). Not unlike the USA, where some rich gays back Trump. On the other hand, depending on tone and word choice, MZP’s comments could also backfire and ironically encourage anti gay sentiment. I am curious Steven as to your thoughts, as my language skills are insufficient to follow the video etc.
My hope is that Hungary will return to liberal democracy, where all citizens/residents are equal under the law, including LGBT individuals.

You are doing a great job following all the news in Hungary. Thank you again.

I agree, it’s hard to know what to think of MZP’s claim. It sounds like a random off-the-cuff comment to me, but the specificity of it was striking, like he knows something the rest of us don’t. But I do think it’s newsworthy if only to remind people about the Devil’s Advocate claim about “reactivating,” especially since it’s now mid-Feb and nothing…
In any case, thank you for reading and commenting!
