The Mayor wrote that Budapest was among 100 European cities chosen by the Commission for its “Smart Cities” program, along with the Hungarian cities of Miskolc and Pécs.
The cities chosen in the program will be made into “experimental and innovation centers,” creating “good models and practices that all European cities can adopt, so that every city in the EU becomes climate-neutral by 2050 at the latest.”
The European Commission is spending a total of €360 million (US $380 million) for the program, but it wasn’t clear from the mayor’s post how much of this amount the Hungarian capital will receive. [444]
