Hungarian Hospitals to Lose Financial Independence

Index writes that a restructuring is taking place in the Hungarian health care sector, with nearly all urban hospitals expected to lose their economic independence by December, or January at the latest.

The economic, procurement, personnel, and HR duties of around 60-70 hospitals will be integrated into either county-wide hospitals or Budapest-based central hospitals.

Four central hospitals are planned in the capital, into which current hospitals will integrate their services. At the moment only the Uzsoki Hospital, which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Defense, and Szent Imre Hospital, which will be integrated into the South-Buda Central Hospital currently under construction, will be the only hospitals in the capital to retain their independent status.
