Following the departure of CEO László Szabó from Mediaworks, publisher of multiple pro-government press outlets, five more directors are also leaving the company.

Szabó was replaced by Deputy Chief Executive Erika Kálmán, who informed Media1 that the five directors were leaving by mutual agreement, with Kálmán to temporarily assume most of their duties. The letter did not give a reason for the change in personnel.

Some of the print media controlled by Mediaworks are Magyar Nemzet, Nemzeti Sport, Világgazdaság, Ripost, Bors, many county newspapers, and online portals such as 888.hu or Figyelő.hu.

László Szabó had been the CEO of Mediaworks Hungary Zrt. and its Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 2020. He left the position to become the government commissioner in charge of the pharmaceutical industry.
