Fans of football team Ferencváros received a written warning from the Hungarian Football Association (MLSZ) after a large banner with a political message was displayed in the stands during a Sunday match against MTK Budapest.
The banner read, “Criminals of 1956/2006! We won’t forget, the left-wing never again,” an apparent reference to the 1956 Revolution and the political disturbances of 2006 covered in the recent film “Elkxrtuk.”
MLSZ reminded “Fradi” fans that any display of political messaging continues to be prohibited at football games. However, there did not appear to be any specific sanctions levied against the team or its fans for the action. [HVG]
