Former U.S. President Donald Trump has officially endorsed Viktor Orbán for the upcoming Hungarian parliamentary elections in April 2022. The ex-President issued a brief statement in support of the Hungarian Prime Minister on Monday.

Viktor Orbán of Hungary truly loves his Country and wants safety for his people. He has done a powerful and wonderful job in protecting Hungary, stopping illegal immigration, creating jobs, trade, and should be allowed to continue to do so in the upcoming Election. He is a strong leader and respected by all. He has my Complete support and Endorsement for reelection as Prime Minister!

With this endorsement, Trump is reciprocating the favor he received from Orban, who was the first leader in the European Union to endorse the businessman’s run for the White House in 2016.

The two leaders met in person on May 13, 2019, when the U.S. President received Viktor Orbán at the White House, and he recently wrote a letter to the Hungarian Prime Minister.

The current U.S. administration, led by Democratic President Joe Biden, is not nearly as much of a fan of the Orbán government. This was underlined by the fact that Hungary was not invited to a summit on strengthening democracy organized by the United States last month, although other countries with questionable democratic values such as Poland and the Philippines were invited.
