Márki-Zay: Fidesz Voters “Stupid” If They Think Party Is Anti-Immigrant

“Unfortunately I have to say that whoever thinks Fidesz is anti-immigration is really stupid,” said united opposition leader Péter Márki-Zay in a long interview with Jelen about the ruling government party.

He continued, “There’s no way to say it any nicer. No one else in this country, not Soros, not Gyurcsány, not the opposition, and not Brussels, has brought migrants here, only Viktor Orbán.” He added that it’s a good thing if people are outraged by him calling Fidesz voters stupid, as “this is how our views are able to reach everyone.”

By making a campaign issue out of the alleged homosexuality of Gáspár Orbán, the son of the Prime Minister, opposition leader Márki-Zay considers it to be a public matter, and claimed that he has talked about the gay orgy of former Fidesz MEP József Szájer so often because the government would not give up on its “anti-gay propaganda.” He also recalled that in previous statements he had stated that “half the government” was made up of homosexuals.

Although he has become a collection of memorable quotes on two legs, the Hódmezővásárhely Mayor alleged that “these statements of mine are justified by their effectiveness.”

The interview also touched on the coronavirus epidemic, with Márki-Zay saying that he has thought for a long time that stricter measures should be taken because of the situation. “It was irresponsible to hold a hunting exhibition, as well as the rallies on October 23rd,” he said. “This could also be a legitimate criticism of the opposition too.”
