Szijjártó Opens Biotechnology R&D Center in Pécs

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó took part in the handover of the research and development center of biotechnology company Soft Flow in Pécs on Tuesday. The state provided 770 million Ft. in funding for the 2 billion Ft. total investment, which will create 90 new jobs in addition to the existing 31.

Despite the coronavirus epidemic, the change in the dimension of the Hungarian economy has accelerated over the past year and a half, which can be seen from the fact that projects based on research and development (R&D) account for an increasing share of investments, Péter Szijjártó said at the event.

In spite of all the opposing global forces against us, we managed to speed up this process even during the pandemic, he said. Szijjártó stated that 182 billion Ft, the largest amount to date, will be allocated from the state budget for innovation.

The minister described the government’s strategy of retaining jobs and encouraging investment as successful.
