Members of Hungary’s armed forces will have to be vaccinated by December 1 if they haven’t already received the Covid shot, with exemptions granted only for medical reasons, according to a government order issued on Friday evening.
However, two trade unions representing police and public service workers told television station RTL Klub that they are opposed to requiring the vaccine for their members, stating that there aren’t even enough police and firefighters at the present moment, and a vaccine mandate would lead to resignations in these fields. At present, 68.9% of Hungarian police have been vaccinated against Covid-19. [HVG]
