László L. Simon, the director of the National Museum, deleted a post from his Facebook page that began with the statement, “Can you imagine that these days you can only consult with your doctor over the phone?”
The former state secretary for culture wrote in an outraged tone about the challenges that his mother, suffering from heart problems, cold symptoms, and possibly pneumonia, faced in Gárdony with Hungarian health care. The family doctor, who Simon named personally, told him not to take her to the clinic to avoid infecting others.
Many comments on the post informed the museum director that Fidesz had introduced the policy to limit the spread of Coronavirus, also pointing out that the government had not managed to reduce the number of unfilled doctor positions in Hungary.
Telex reached out to Simon after noticing that the post had disappeared, but the director responded in a text message that he had no comment. [HVG]
