The situation in some EU Member States is much worse than the European Commission believes, states a European Parliament (EP) draft resolution to be voted on in the EP’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) on Wednesday.
The resolution clearly states that Hungary and Poland are deliberately violating EU standards, and there has been no improvement in the two Member States since last year.
MEPs on the committee welcome the fact that in its report expected this July, the European Court of Justice will not only describe the problems, but also make recommendations for resolving them and urge the Brussels panel to set a deadline for their implementation. [Népszava]
