In the past 10 days, 10,000 people have signed up as activists to help Hungary’s political opposition change the government, and more than 92 million Ft. (US $292,000) has been raised by the six-party coalition, wrote Péter Márki-Zay, the opposition’s prime ministerial candidate, on social media on Sunday.
Márki-Zay also reported that that the average amount donated was 8,000 Ft. ($25.37), which, he believes, “shows that it is truly made up of donations from ordinary people who want change.”
Last month, Viktor Orbán sent a letter to Fidesz supporters asking them to donate to his party’s election campaign, and Péter Márki-Zay has also requested donations for his campaign.
