Péter Márki-Zay met with the heads of several diplomatic missions in Budapest on Saturday, the opposition’s joint prime ministerial candidate announced on Facebook yesterday.
The mayor of Hódmezővásárhely stated that the participants had discussed the 2022 elections and the prevention of election fraud, as well as the fight against corruption, the new Hungarian constitution, and the rule of law.
The meeting was initiated by Marc Dillard, the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy, and in addition to the United States, diplomatic representatives from Japan, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Austria were also present, claimed Márki-Zay.
As previously reported, British Ambassador Paul Fox visited Márki-Zay in Hódmezővásárhely earlier in the week, while the opposition leader traveled to Brussels last week to meet with leaders in the European Parliament.
