Hungary now has the highest coronavirus transmission rate in the world, which means that the virus is spreading faster in Hungary than anywhere else, said spokesperson Zoltán Varga for the Democratic Coalition (DK) Parliamentary caucus at an online press conference on Monday morning.

Varga claimed that the Orbán government’s vaccination campaign had failed, and that the Hungarian people could no longer trust the cabinet’s ability to manage the pandemic.

“DK has asked the government for immediate, free and mass testing. Mass testing is the only way to get a comprehensive picture of the epidemic, the real situation of which may be even worse than what we currently think,” said the oppositon politician.
