Speaking from the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Friday, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó praised the strong relations between Hungary and Kyrgyzstan, according to a statement by Hungarian news agency MTI.
The Foreign Minister stated that trade between the two countries grew by 56% this year, and that plans are nearly complete for a direct flight on WizzAir between Budapest and Bishkek.
Appearing in a joint press conference with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Ruslan Kazakbayev, Szijjártó also mentioned that there are 150 scholarships available for Kyrgyz students in Hungary, and that Kyrgyz students can now learn Hungarian at one of the country’s largest universities.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister also took the occasion to say that “mistakes are beginning to pile up in Brussels,” such as the EU’s failure to ask the opinions of countries in Central Asia when it encouraged them to admit large numbers of Afghan immigrants in recent months.
