Socialist politician István Ujhelyi is asking Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to appoint a data controller responsible for collecting vaccination data on coronavirus patients, reports Index.
The MSZP-Párbeszéd MEP said in an online press conference on his social media page that he had made a public interest request to the relevant ministries and authorities in mid-September to find out the vaccination data of infected people requiring hospital care or who have died.
Ujhelyi turned to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Human Resources and the National Center for Public Health (NNK) for data requests. Both the ministries and the authority also informed him that he was not the controller of the requested data.
Gergely Gulyás, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office, claimed at the most recent Government Info briefing that no such data set had been published, but according to Ujhelyi the relevant data is being collected by the NNK.
The politician has promised that if the opposition wins the election and forms a government in the spring, the opposition will retrieve every single set of data, contracts and instructions on vaccinations in Hungary.
