After apparently nodding off in a Parliamentary session and led out of the chamber, then subsequently accused of being in an intoxicated state, Fidesz MP György Simonka claimed that he was was not drunk but just felt sick and sleepy after taking medication to treat his illeness.
“I’m not going to go into the details of my illness,” Simonka told tabloid Blikk, “but I’ll get past this just like I’ve gotten past other things.”
The Fidesz representative has previously been accused of several crimes, and corruption charges were filed against him in 2019. Most recently, charges were again filed against him again in August, claiming he offered money to a witness in exchange for false testimony against him. [via Telex]
