“Canceled event” was written on the Facebook page Thursday afternoon of a pro-Russia demonstration planned for the end of April in Budapest, until the link to the event became inaccessible, writes Népszava.
The reasons for the cancelation of the event were unclear, writes the Hungarian daily. It had previously been reported that NGOs and the Ukrainian minority self-government in Hungary had asked the police to refuse to give the organizers a permit.
Police did not respond to Népszava’s question as to whether a permit for the event had already been granted, and if so, if it was revoked due to the opposition that sprung up against it. [Népszava]
