Hungary once again was the world leader in Covid mortality by population yesterday, writes Népszava. This assessment was based on data of coronavirus-related deaths per million inhabitants on the statistical collection site Worldometers. The site presently has Hungary listed at 3,629 deaths per million persons, now the sixth-highest in the world.
By Wednesday morning, 34,713 Hungarians had died as a result of the epidemic. At the same time, according to Our World in Data, Hungary ranked first in deaths among EU countries on November 29, based on a seven-day moving average.
The Coronavirus Press Center previously acknowledged that the aggregation and validation of weekend deaths had been delayed by individual hospitals for administrative reasons, yet the fourth wave of the epidemic has not yet reverted to a daily release of data.
