Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held a video conference with Matteo Salvini, head of the Italian Northern League party, and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, vice-president of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, on the creation of a new European political group, said Bertalan Havasi, spokesperson at the Office of the Prime Minister.
During the discussions, the participants deemed that a declaration signed by 16 parties in July on the future of Europe and the protection of nation states and traditional values was a success. The declaration has sparked great interest across the continent, they claimed, and several political organizations and parties in the past few months have indicated their intent to join the movement.
Havasi said that discussions would continue this week on the concrete forms of future cooperation in the political group.
The three politicians previously met in Budapest, where they jointly declared that Hungary, Poland, and Italy would plan their future together.
