All of Hungary is now in the second-worst category for Covid infections, according to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). One week ago, the Central Transdanubian region was ranked in the fourth-worst category, but the EU health agency currently considers the entire country as an area of critical concern.
The ECDC’s ranking is due to data showing that for every 100,000 residents in the country, Covid case notifications were between 75-199 and the test positivity rate was over 4%.
ECDC’s map also shows that compared to the rest of the continent, the Covid pandemic is far more of a threat in Eastern and Central Europe, and that Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, as well as Eastern Slovakia and Western Austria all are ranked below Hungary in the higest category of concern. [HVG]
